About Hatcham College
Haberdashers' Hatcham College is a state secondary school with academy status located in New Cross. Part of the Haberdashers’ Academies Trust South, Hatcham College belongs to a family of four secondary and five primary schools in central and south east London – each bringing a Haberdashers' education to the communities we serve.We are partnered with two local primary schools - Haberdashers' Hatcham Primary and Haberdashers' Hatcham Free School. Together, we form the Hatcham College cluster ad have many children and families joining us at age 3 and leaving us at 18.
Admissions
All primary-phase children have an automatic right of entry to the Secondary phase (applications are still required), so transition is seamless between Years 6 and 7 as well as progression through the other key stages. Hatcham College specialises in Music and offers music places each year for those who have a real aptitude and passion for music. Music scholars make up to 10% of each year cohort.
History
Hatcham College has a long and proud history dating back to the late 1800s. Originally the school’s two sites on Pepys Road and Jerningham were used as separate boys’ and girls’ schools. Today, we offer a co-educational experience.

Diverse Student Body
We are a truly diverse school of over 1300 students that celebrates a wide range of backgrounds, heritages, religions, languages, ethnic groups and social-economic circumstances. The majority of our students live in the Borough of Lewisham and for the past decade Hatcham College has been oversubscribed by 12:1.
Curriculum
We have a broad and balanced curriculum at Key Stage 3 with a very broad range of pathways and options at KS4 & 5. Modern Foreign Language options include:
- French
- German
- Spanish
- Latin
Sixth Form Progression
Well over three quarters of the students in the Sixth Form move onto higher education. Students routinely gain places At Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.
