A-level Results Day 2023

we are proud of our fantastic a-level results

Hatcham students and staff are celebrating the A-Level results published on 17th August 2023.

Broadly in line with 2022 when there were more generous grade boundaries and slightly improving upon 2019 (the last pre-Covid public examinations) nearly a quarter of all grades were A*-A and 45% were A*-B grades. The achievements of students recognises both the hard work they and their teachers put in in preparing for the first set of public examinations that these young people ever sat.

We are proud of the achievements of all our departments but the following all achieved A*-A in around a third or more of all grades:

  • Spanish (100%)
  • Drama & Theatre (63%)
  • Mathematics (46%)
  • Sociology (43%)
  • Art & Design (39%)
  • Geography (35%)
  • Government & Politics (35%)
  • Sport & Exercise Science Level 3 BTEC (33% A*-A equivalent)
  • History (31%)

There were some absolutely exceptional individual performances with many students achieving collections of A*and A grades.

We’re thrilled that among our strongest results were 3 Haberdashers’ Scholarship holders. The Haberdashers’ generosity will enable these young people to be supported financially and by the wider Haberdashers network as they pursue ambitious next steps. Thomas E secured an impressive A*, A*, A and will head to Edinburgh, ranked the UK’s 5th best university by the TES, to study Geography. Martha McCormick, collecting a sweep of superb A*, A*, A, A grades will join Thomas at Edinburgh to study Maths. Fawaz A, on the basis of stellar A*, A, A grades will study History at Warwick.

Our Deputy Head Boy, Sam B, after an eclectic range of both humanities and sciences A Levels for which he secured A*, A, A is going to Loughborough to read Chemical Engineering, destined for a career in public service like Thea Y C who, after securing a Distinction in Business, and A and B A Levels, is to study Nursing at King’s College London, currently ranked the second best HE provider in the world for the course!

Arena A, with an A* and two As is headed to Manchester to study Architecture while Ben W will put his Distinction * in Sports Science (and two Bs) to great use in his degree in Sports Management at Westminster University London.

We wish all of our Sixth Form all the very best as their move on to the next adventures of their educational journey and/or careers.
