Who are we?
The Friends of Hatcham College PTA promotes positive contact between parents, teachers and students and raises funds that can be used by the school to provide additional benefits for all students. Being an active member of FHCPTA is a great way to support your child, their education and get to know the staff. Membership of FHCPTA is automatic for all parents and carers of students in Years 7-13 at Hatcham.
Events & Fundraising
Our main events are Quiz nights in October, January and May and the Winter Fair in December. FHCPTA parent volunteers also raise money from providing refreshments at various events, including Music department concerts and the annual school musical. We also raise funds through our Nearly New Uniform Sales, which are a vital service that the FHCPTA runs to provide reasonably priced donated uniform and sport kit items. How we support the school
Over the past three years we have given funding for outdoor table tennis tables, football and rugby kits, laptops for the SEN department, books for all Year 7 pupils and Library seating, lighting for the Drama department, and trips for our Young Carers. During lockdown, we supported the Year 13's by subsidising the cost of leavers' sweatshirts.
Friends is much more than just fundraising!
Becoming a member of the FHCPTA is a worthwhile parental commitment because contact with other parents is lost in the transition to secondary school. It is good to have this outlet to meet, socialise and work alongside other parents and school staff. It is fun too – just ask any of the parents and carers who have helped out.
We meet on the second Tuesday of every half term at 7pm in the meeting room at Jerningham site. All parents are welcome to attend. Every other meeting includes a Parents Forum where invited teaching staff from a chosen department present a topic of interest, such as changes to the curriculum or exam performance, followed by a Q and A. The Forum provides an additional channel of communication between parents and the school.

Businesses and your employer can help too!
Does your employer support Community Projects? Do you work in a local business which can offer us donations? We are fortunate to receive prizes and promises from local businesses for raffles. Some well-known banks and companies offer a donation or matched funding to schools when their employee volunteers in school - which includes helping out at events. FHCPTA was previously known as Friends of Aske's College Society (FACS) but we felt this could be confused for an alumni organisation and did not reflect the joint efforts and hard work of the parents and teachers who form the current, active PTA. Friends of Aske's PTA is a registered charity.
