Sixth Form Enrichment
Hatcham College Sixth Form students have access to a range of enrichment opportunities that develop their leadership skills and interpersonal skills.
The Hatcham Prefect Team, lead by the Head Girl and Head Boy and Top 8 team of students and supported by the wider team of Prefect volunteers, is a standout feature of leadership opportunities uniquely available to Haberdashers Hatcham students. Visitors to Hatcham will be familiar with our student representatives in their blue gowns. Behind the calm and professional exterior of the Prefect team is a thorough selection and training process and a wealth of networking opportunities that ensures reciprocal benefits for the students and school.
In Year 12, students are encouraged to volunteer to take on the role of mentor to students from lower year groups. The training and resulting support that Year 12s receive and provide means that they perform an important role in the school, as well as having the enriching experiences of 'giving back' and securing impressive details for the extra-curricular section of their UCAS or apprenticeship applications.
Our support from the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers means Hatcham students have access to prestigious annual events, such as the Livery Awards Competition, an annual 'Dragon's Den' style competition held at Haberdashers Hall. Sixth Form students are also invited to talks delivered by key public figures at Haberdashers Hall, each year.
Sixth Form students have access to societies, such as the Feminist Society, and there is capacity for students to collaborate with staff to create other societies, based on student interest.
Departments at Hatcham Sixth Form offer Wrap Around Curriculum opportunities, to deepen and extend student learning and interest in their subjects. The full range of Wrap Around Curriculum opportunities will be updated for 2024-2025, shortly.
Sixth Form students also have access to the 14 acre, Nunhead Sports Field, for sports enrichment.
