Meet Elize

The opportunities within the music department are great - there are so many choirs, orchestras, quartets and concerts to attend.

Meet Elize, a Year 13 English literature, music and drama student.

What has been the highlight of your time at Hatcham Sixth Form?

Definitely meeting the new people who have joined Hatcham Sixth Form. I’ve made really good new friends very quickly- I feel as though I have known them for so much longer!

What makes you most proud of Hatcham Sixth Form?

The teachers make me really proud at my sixth form. They really want us all to achieve. They support me by giving me feedback on not only my class work but also any additional work I may do. They are always willing to give up their time to have conversations with me that will further help my education.

What are you currently studying?

I am studying English Literature, Music and Drama. I really enjoyed these subjects at GCSE and studying them at A-level has enabled me to learn more about them.

You are studying music for A-level, tell us about the music specialism programme at Hatcham Sixth Form.

There are performances every year that bring students from all year groups together. The music specialism provides music lessons for instruments. I take singing lessons. I enjoy learning about different artists and pieces of music that I have never heard before. The opportunities within the music department are great - there are so many choirs, orchestras, quartets and concerts to attend. The teachers in the department are really supportive. I would really recommend the music specialism, especially if you like music! It is really enjoyable to explore what you love in greater depth.

What do you hope to do after A-levels?

My ultimate dream is to make music or become an actress but I also want to go on into the production industry. Recently, I have been a part of a program that explores autobiographical theatre. We have been learning how to incorporate important events in the world, which interest me, into my work. The school works with external groups which provide drama related tutoring. I find it very interesting.
