Meet Kaiyan

The workload and expectations have risen a lot compared to GCSEs, but making new friends and the support of Sixth Form staff has helped me to manage my workload and time effectively.

Kaiyan reflects on the step up from Secondary to Sixth-Form and the support she has received

What subjects are you studying for A-level?

I am studying Psychology, Politics and Theatre Studies. In Psychology, we are learning how to understand human behaviour on a deeper level as well as reflecting on my own behaviour. Politics allows real world debate and it gives us opportunities to learn from our peers. In Theatre Studies, I am able to escape reality and become someone else!

What have you found most challenging about Sixth Form?

The workload and expectations have risen a lot compared to GCSEs, but making new friends and the support of Sixth Form staff has helped me to manage my workload and time effectively. I have really developed my independent learning skills. I felt a bit overwhelmed by all the new information at the start but I have learned that it is important to stay focused on the bigger picture.

Why did you choose to stay at Hatcham Sixth Form?

I had a good relationship with the teachers at secondary school and this has continued to develop at Sixth Form level. My teachers and the Head of Year are very supportive The Hatcham staff are unique - you can have proper conversations and even a laugh with them!

What has been a highlight of your time at Hatcham Sixth Form?

The Team Building Day was a real highlight for me. From making new friendships to developing team work skills in preparation for real life - it was such a great experience!
